The most common form of acne, also known as Acne Vulgaris, is blackheads and whiteheads. Our skin regenerates every three weeks, meaning the dead skin cells get replaced by new skin cells. These dead skin cells combine with the body oil and dust to clog the hair follicle to form a bump known as comedones that maybe a black or a white head. Blackheads are open comedones where the hair follicle is exposed, and the whiteheads are closed comedones where the hair follicle is not detected.

Enzyme and Acne facials work exceptionally well to treat this kind of mild acne. Microdermabrasion is a beneficial and gentle treatment for the treatment of white and blackheads.

When the comedones become inflamed, forming a red or pink bump on the skin, it is called a Papule. It is essential to keep the skin clean and exfoliated to minimize the inflammation. Using skin appropriate hydrating cream is vital too. Superficial to mild chemical peels are an excellent choice of treatment for such acne.

When the comedones are inflamed with white pus and a red ring around it is called a Pustule. If this kind of acne is not treated effectively, it may leave scars. These acne scars can be seen as indentation or change in pigmentation. BLU U light treatment and medium depth chemical peels work well for pustular acne.

When an inflamed comedo is large and hard under the skin, it is called a Nodule. These are generally painful and take a few weeks to heal. When a nodule is filled with pus and takes the form similar to a boil, it is called a Cyst. These cysts are very painful and take a long time to heal. These cause the breakdown of collagen to leave an indented scar.
